The Isca Photographic Collection
Spanning more than 50,000 photographic prints and negatives, the Isca Photographic Collection captures the changing face of Exeter throughout the late 19th to the 21st centuries. Saved by local photographer, historian and author Peter Thomas (1948–2020), the collection prominently features the work of Henry Wykes (1874–1964) and documents the everyday life, architecture and social history of Exeter.
The Isca Photographic Collection project was made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to preserve an irreplaceable record of twentieth-century Exeter.
The project builds on the foundational work of historian and photographer Peter Thomas who created the Isca collection. It is supported by the Friends of Devon’s Archives.
