🎄 The countdown to Christmas begins, with Stir-Up 🎄 The countdown to Christmas begins, with Stir-Up Saturday! 🥣
Ok it's usually 'Stir-Up Sunday' but we're getting in a day early.

Dating back to Victorian times 👑 'Stir-Up Sunday' is the last Sunday before advent, the day when traditionally families gather together to prepare the Christmas pudding. 🧈

The Christmas pudding as we know it is said to have been introduced to Britain by Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria, however it is thought that a version of the pudding was actually introduced from Germany by George I ( sometimes known as the ‘pudding king’) in 1714.

Join us in the Victorian farmhouse kitchen 🍽️ this 'Stir-Up Saturday' between ⏰10:00 am - 2:00 pm when we will be preparing the Christmas pudding and learning more about this tradition.

There’s no better time to fire up the stove, raid the larder and delve into grandma’s recipe book 📖 – or in our case, Hilda Bates-Harbin’s early 20th century recipe book from Somerset Archives (image below).

😇 Plus get even more in the festive spirit as you join us to work with local artists INK JAM to help us make a chorus of Angels for our ‘A celebration of Christmas’ event using recycled materials and gold/silver leaf.

Fernhill Farm is eco farm and events venue up on the Mendip Hills. 🏔️
Farm owners Andy Wear and Jen Hunter combine rural skills, natural fibres and a passion for conservation.
