This summer visitors to Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury can discover more about the heritage craft of slipware ceramics with a programme of exhibitions and events.
As part of the programme, the Museum is delighted to be working with Somerset Art Works to bring an artist in residence to the Museum. Emilie Taylor will be producing an installation that responds to Somerset slipware ceramics held within the collections of the South West Heritage Trust. These include the intriguing Donyatt puzzle jugs. An exhibition of these locally made ceramics will be on display at the Museum over the summer.
An exhibition of local slipware ceramics, from the 1600s onwards, ‘The Art of the Potter: Somerset Slipware‘ will be displayed at Somerset Rural Life Museum from Saturday 22 June.
Emilie Taylor’s installation will be launched during Somerset Art Weeks, which runs from Saturday 21 September to Saturday 6 October.
Entry to the exhibitions is FREE with the Museum Unlimited annual pass.
