Avalon Archaeology

Join us for a Viking Invasion with Viking reenactors Draca Beordor, and witness a Viking combat display.

 Coming up:  25th July 2026

Join us as we play host to the Viking reenactors Draca Beordor, and immerse yourself in Viking culture, crafts and combat. Strike a Viking coin, learn to write in Runes, dress up like a Viking for a selfie in the Viking ship and witness a Viking combat display (2.30pm).

More To Do

During your visit explore the richly decorated reconstructed Roman dining-room and the Anglo-Saxon longhall. Filled with hand crafted furniture and art, you will immerse yourself in thousands of years of heritage. There is also a reconstructed Viking ship and Iron Age roundhouse.

After your visit, you can make use of the Marshes Hub Tea Stop and visit the Somerset Crafts gallery in the Avalon Marshes Centre. You can also journey onto Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve and see replica wooden prehistoric trackways. Read more on the Avalon Marshes Centre website.
