Bronze Age Open Day

See master craftsfolk at work demonstrating traditional skills, and explore life from 4,500 years ago.

Throughout the day witness the alchemical magic of molten metal poured to create objects of bronze!

Have a go at making some jewellery, some pottery or even try your hand cutting wood with a bronze axe!

Speak to our resident Bronze Age villagers about life thousands of years ago. There will also be a chance to see the newly constructed Iron Age roundhouse, now officially complete.

About the Bronze Age

Around 4,000 years ago the Bronze Age came to Britain.

The Bronze Age marked the first time humans started to work with metal. Bronze tools and weapons soon replaced earlier stone versions.

Humans made many technological advances during the Bronze Age, including the first writing systems and the invention of the wheel.

The late Bronze Age was also signatured by textile production and advanced pottery-making techniques.
