Following on from mysterious appearances of monoliths in locations such as Utah, Romania and the Isle of Wight, a strange structure appears at the top of the famous Somerset landmark. A small mouse can be seen on the base, an image often associated with the artist Banksy, though the structure’s origins remain unknown.

3000 candles illuminate the interior of Wells Cathedral. The popular carols by candlelight service was yet another annual event that was forced to adapt to current restrictions by taking place virtually.

Jeremy Millington and his family joined forces with local choirs and orchestras in the Wells area to record a Christmas version of the popular song Together in Electric Dreams. The single marked those whose lives were lost to COVID-19 in the UK, and included a large number of musicians recording virtually from their homes including the Wells Lockdown Orchestra and the Skylarks Choir. The song was produced under the banner Shine A Light To Fight.

The act of delivering a budded branch from a Glastonbury thorn to the Queen at Christmas dates back to at least the 17th century, when a cutting was delivered to Queen Anne, King James I’s consort. It remains a popular annual tradition in the Glastonbury town calendar to this day.
