The Good Fairy statue was unveiled by The Mayor of Taunton, Cllr Nick O’Donnell, at an event held in partnership with Taunton Town Council on bank holiday Monday 6 May at the Museum of Somerset. More than 500 people visited the Museum where The Mayor give a talk about the history of the statue and families took part in fairy-themed crafts and trails.

The Good Fairy statue was given to the children of Taunton, Somerset, in 1939 by the children of Taunton, USA to mark the 300th anniversary of the town in Massachusetts. The meter-high, bronze figurine depicts a girl’s profile when viewed from one side and a boy’s profile from the other. Having been behind closed doors for many years it is now on display at the Museum in the Discovering Gallery.
