Time Team artist, Victor Ambrus’ new book ‘Drawing Somerset’s Past: An Illustrated Journey Through History’ is to be published in October in association with the South West Heritage Trust.

The book tells the story of the archaeology and history of Somerset from the earliest times up to the twentieth century. It is illustrated with 100 drawings by the internationally renowned artist alongside information provided by historian Steve Minnitt and experts at The South West Heritage Trust.

The book is published by The History Press and includes a foreword by Time Team presenter Tony Robinson.

Victor Ambrus is an illustrator of history, folk tales and children’s books, but is best known for his appearances on Channel 4’s Time Team. Victor has created hundreds of archaeological and historical reconstructions many of which depict Somerset’s fascinating history.

Victor has illustrated some of the key collections within The Museum of Somerset. He also worked on reconstructions as part of archaeological excavations at Hinkley Point. His work was celebrated with an exhibition at the Museum in 2016. As part of this exhibition a film of his life and works was created.
