Discover the town of Dulverton through the voices of those who lived there. These guided audio tours are inspired by the voices of past residents from within the Exmoor Oral History Archive. The tours were created by poet and storyteller Christopher Jelley as part of the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage project to preserve Britain’s sound archives.

The interviewees whose voices feature in the recordings are Ken Baker, John Blackmore, Jean Campbell, Jean Gabb, Paddy Kennedy, Norah Mackney, Chris Nelder, Frances Newton, Fred Radley, Tom Troake and Brian Windsor.

Know Before You Go

The sound walks are available to download to your device so you can listen while you walk.

Both walks start at the statue of Lorna Doone, Exmoor Lawns, Dulverton, TA22 9HL. They take you around the town, with clear directions from place to place.

The route is step-free and has been planned to make it suitable for those in wheelchairs or with pushchairs.

Each walk lasts about an hour.

Or, just listen at home from the comfort of your armchair!
