Archives & Local Studies Assistant
Location: Somerset Heritage Centre, Brunel Way, Norton Fitzwarren, Taunton TA2 6SF
Hours: 22 hours per week, usual working hours will be 10.00-16.00, Tuesday-Friday. Includes occasional weekend and evening work.
Salary: £17,360 per annum, paid on a pro rata basis (pay award pending)
Contract: Three-year fixed-term contract
We are looking for a part-time Archives & Local Studies Assistant to be based at the Somerset Heritage Centre in Taunton. You will work as part of a team providing advice to the public on the use of archival sources, overseeing the public searchrooms, answering enquiries, and retrieving archives from their storage for use by the public. You will also have the opportunity to assist with the care of archive collections including packaging and boxing, and updating the collections management database.
You will need excellent customer care skills and a willingness to learn about the major archival sources held by the Trust. Occasional travel to other sites managed by the Trust may be required.
