Coming up: 16th July 2026
A hundred years ago Taunton was still a manufacturing town with many factories and foundries. On this volunteer-led tour we will visit a variety of these previously industrial sites discussing the role of key industries such as cloth working, silk manufacturing and the shirt and collar factories. The development of structures to support the workers will also be explored including alms houses, shops, schools and the YMCA.
Walking duration approximately 2 hours.
The tour will start at the Museum of Somerset.
