Somerset Art Weeks Family Friendly Weekends: Collaborative Mosaic Workshop with Megan Players
Get creative as a family in this fun, drop-in mosaic workshop with artist Megan Players. Be inspired by the colourful and imaginative work of Candace Bahouth, currently on display in the Abbey Barn as part of the Cultural Connections programme.
Using traditional mosaic tiles and broken pieces of crockery, visitors of all ages are invited to help create a series of beautiful collaborative mosaic roundels. Whether you stay for a few minutes or longer, you’ll have the chance to experiment with patterns, explore design ideas and bring your own unique creativity to the artwork.
For those keen to go deeper, there will be opportunities to learn how to cut and shape china for use in the mosaics, while younger children can enjoy simple paper-based creative activities designed especially for little makers.

Somerset Art Weeks Festival: Cultural Connections

Discover Cultural Connections, a major programme of contemporary art, archaeology and community engagement at Somerset Rural Life Museum. Developed and commissioned by Somerset Art Works in partnership with the South West Heritage Trust, the programme explores the rich cultural heritage that has shaped Somerset across millennia through exhibitions, events and creative participation.
Opening on 12 September 2026, Cultural Connections unfolds across three spaces within the Museum. The programme is a highlight of the Somerset Art Weeks Festival (19 September – 4 October 2026) and continues beyond the festival, with the Abbey Barn and Granary exhibitions on display until 31 October 2026, and the Mapstone Gallery exhibition continuing until 5 December 2026.
