On the longest day of the year travel back tens of thousands of years to a time of hunter gatherers, flint tools and cave paintings. This family‑friendly solstice event includes hands‑on activities and live demonstrations that help you discover Stone Age Somerset.

🪨 Drop‑in Activities: Explore the Stone Age

Spend time discovering the remarkable Neolithic archaeology of the Somerset Levels and get up close to ancient skills and materials.

  • Watch a stone axe being knapped
  • Learn about the Neolithic landscape and the people who lived here
  • Create your own ‘cave painting’

These activities run throughout the day and are suitable for all ages.

🔥 Mini Workshops: Fire‑by‑Friction (Booking Required)

For a memorable Father’s Day treat, join Luke Atterton of Red Squirrel Ancestral Skills for a special fire‑by‑friction session. These are small, close-knit workshops with a limited‑capacity of up to 5 people.

These short workshops are perfect for adults or children over age 7. 

Workshop details:

  • Times: 11.00 am, 12.00 pm, 2.00 pm, 3.00 pm
