People have been making rag rugs for years, using recycled fabrics and hessian to make these shaggy, colourful rugs.

Join the museum’s Operations Manager, Susie Simmons, for a morning looking into the history of rag rug making, thinking about the sustainability of clothing and textiles through history, and starting your own rag rug.

Rag rugs are a great way to upcycle your old clothes (especially t-shirts) so please feel free to bring them along to include and give them a new lease of life! 

This will be a relaxed-social session, including friendly discussion and a hands-on activity suitable for ages 16+
