Somerset Jubilee Parish Portraits – the results are in
In April the Somerset Archives and Local Studies Service launched an appeal to ask parishes and communities to create an illustration of their parish in the Platinum Jubilee year – a snapshot which showed services and facilities, how the community came together through the Covid-19 Pandemic, how they celebrated the Jubilee, and what made their parish special and unique in this historical year.
Thank you so much to everyone who has joined in and sent us portraits – they have come to us in all shapes and sizes, from an A3 scrapbook to digital files to souvenir programmes.
We are amazed and very grateful at how much work has gone into them and below are images of some of our favourites so far. If this has inspired you, or you think you can do better, there is still time to submit a Jubilee Parish Portrait for your community, we’d like to receive as many as possible to add to this amazing archive. Read all about the appeal here and how to submit your entry.
