Tristram Hillier RA (1905–1983) was one of the most accomplished and distinctive 20th-century British artists. Painting for many years from a base in Somerset, he created pictures in a uniquely intense and memorable style.

In this enlightening illustrated talk you can discover the life and art of Hillier in more detail.

Jenny Pery is the author of ‘Painter Pilgrim’, the first biography of the artist. It traces Hillier’s career from the hedonism of his early years, when he was associated with Surrealism and the international avantgarde, to the relative seclusion of his later life spent between Somerset and continental Europe.

There will be an opportunity to enjoy a viewing of the exhibition ‘Landscapes of the Mind: The Art of Tristram Hillier‘ following the talk.
