23rd November 2019 - 7th March 2020

Form & Fascination is a new exhibition of detailed watercolour paintings by Watchet-based artist Jenny Barron. It brings together a number of the artist’s distinctive still lifes, for which she has become well known, as well as some of her more imaginative works.

The exhibition includes a series of large paintings commissioned by Contains Art in Watchet in 2018. These were partly inspired by the maritime and nautical elements of the  harbour and its history.

Jenny works entirely in watercolour and has developed a highly individual and realistic technique that gives her paintings a characteristic luminosity and texture, and demonstrates her long standing fascination with form and structure.

Her long career has included textile design, commercial illustration and botanical painting.

The exhibition Form and Fascination will accompany The Museum of Somerset’s major retrospective of the artist Tristram Hillier, Landscapes of the Mind, and illustrates some of the ways that still life painting and surrealist ideas can overlap

Prints by Jenny will be for sale in the museum shop for the duration of the exhibition.
