Bridging the Digital Gap trainee

Location: Devon Heritage Centre, Exeter

Hours: 32 hours per week

Salary: £14,510 per annum

Contract: 15 month, fixed term contract

We are looking for a talented technical recruit, who will use their skills, energy and digital confidence to help preserve our history and find new ways for people to access and learn from that heritage. 

The Bridging the Digital Gap programme aims to increase digital skills in archives by bringing new talent into the sector to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce. The traineeship is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

As a trainee, you will spend 15 months working on real-life projects, learning on the job and gaining valuable and rewarding work experience. You will also have access to specialist training and development, consisting of a structured e-learning programme and dynamic workshops.  Throughout the traineeship, you will have the chance to work together with other trainees and colleagues to develop key skills that will prepare you for an exciting career in the heritage sector. You will also work towards a recognised certificate issued by ARA, the professional body for archives.

The South West Heritage Trust is a charity which delivers a broad range of heritage services across Somerset and Devon that were previously delivered by local authorities.  We manage and run three museums, two Archives and Local Studies services, and look after the historic environment in Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset.
